Sacred Choral Music . . . is owned and operated by
Nolan Martin. I am a teacher at Faith Mennonite High School in Lancaster County, PA. I had taught there full time
from 2002-2008. This term I am part time while I begin working on a music education degree at West Chester University.
I have noticed that it is hard to find a place to buy choral music recordings. Over the years I have been critical of
Contemporary Christian Music and other pop music but didn't know where to point people to find better music. The goal of this
site is to be a place where people can go to find quality Christian choral music.
I have noticed as well that many people do not know what is available in the realm of choral music. Many people only know
about the music which has become popular and is sold at places like Wal-mart or the local bookstore. Unfortunately,
popular music becomes popular for reasons often unrelated to its lyrical content or musical quality, and I believe these two
areas should be given primary consideration when purchasing albums for your collection.
The vision of Sacred Choral Music's online radio
station is to help people discover what is available in the realm of music. Then through the sale of CD's I hope many
people will fill their CD collections with music which is musically and lyrically rich and varied. I also want to promote
excellent congregational singing in churches by providing music for listening which promotes the same.
You may wonder just how I define sacred choral music. By sacred I mean songs with distinctly Christian lyrics. By choral I
mean music which is sung by a choir. Within these boundaries Sacred Choral Music offers a wide variety of music ranging from
Renaissance to contemporary and from heavy to light. Rachmaninoff's Vespers sung by the Robert Shaw Festival Choir is
featured on the radio station alongside the contemporary choral music by Hallal. Sacred Choral Music specializes in music by
Mennonite / Anabaptist groups. One goal of Sacred Choral Music is to become a one-stop place for purchasing music sung by
Mennonite choirs.
Enjoy!
